How did you find us?: Got kidnapped by Zuko-mun

IC:

Character name: Lady Hebina Charlene Joare The 88th

Fandom: Scan2Go

Timeline: Post Episode 27 - after graduating from Gurao

Age: ???
(Hebina is non-human and as of now we know absolutely nothing about how age in her species relates to the age proportions of humans. Judging by the way she acts and talks, however, we can assume she's a young adult. The human equivalent may possibly be around 23 to 26 years of age.)

~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths: Nothing so far leads us to believe Hebina has any supernatural powers. She's a master of disappearance tricks, but all of that is done with planning and technical help. The most notable talent of hers is actually more the talent of her miniature race car Hisstoria. Hisstoria is able to send out little electronic mice that create holograms of the car. Hisstoria also has good camouflage and can blend with the background to seem as if disappearing. ....Yeah. Not too impressive. Aside, no magic, just some sometimes more and sometimes less cunning pirate skill.

How would they use their abilities?: The racing part? To race! - should she find opponents, that is.
The rest: Well, she'll be tricking and deceiving, possibly stealing here and there. But it's nothing on a high level.. Hebina's more for personal coups and unlikely to regularly pull anything big that would need mod-approval.

Appearance: Hebina's a pretty woman. She's not particularly skinny but still thin and her female body shape is quite notable, especially as she tends to wear very tight clothes. More striking than that is her non-human aspects though. Hebina's got elf-like ears that are pointed downwards and a light almost yellow-ish skin color. One of her eyes is usually covered by her blue hair that reaches down to her shoulders. The other eye is shown to be purple. Hebina wears purple lipstick at all times. She'd hate going out looking anything less than the Lady she is.

Background/Personality:

As of now, not much about Hebina's early background is known. A lot of what is given about her is vague. By the time of appearance she's a grown woman, who 'even shed her skin once or twice' by her own words. Sadly we have no idea what this means. It could be literal or figurative and even if it were literal, we wouldn't know how often her kind sheds their skin anyway. Hebina is an alien, but details about her species remain in the dark. At numerous occasions she is referred to as a reptile, but it's never validated.

So what we have is Lady Hebina Charlene Joare the 88th, Grand Fang Princess of the Space Pirates. If she is actually a princess or if that is just an alias is, you guessed it, unknown. Her pirate crew, girls named Kohebiko and Daijiko, at least treats her with a high level of respect. As the title suggests, Lady Hebina is indeed a space pirate. She sends out fake SOS signals to lure ships into abandoned sectors and then uses her robot army to take over their ships and steal their valuable cargo. She is also careful enough to jam the frequencies and make it impossible for the attacked to call for help. There is some talk about turning the enemy crew into statues but there is no way to tell if she meant that literally.

At the very least, evidence suggests that Hebina is quite successful and rich - she even owns an exclusive race track comet. 'Race track' guides us to the last important basic aspect, too. Hebina's a Scan2Go racer. Scan2Go is a very popular sport in her universe and it's basically miniature car races. There are entire planets dedicated to it, that's how popular it is. Half of the universe revolves around Scan2Go.  Hebina's car is called Hisstoria and she loves it deeply.

We first meet Hebina when she takes over yet another ship, unfortunately the one Team JET from Earth (the actual main characters of the show) are hijacking on. While Hebina successfully takes over the ship and captures the crew, she can't resist as JET member Fiona Ryder challenges her to a race - the price to be won is the crew's freedom as well as an apology from Hebina to Team JET for making fun of them earlier.

Hebina transports everyone to her private race track and the race takes place. While at first it seems like Hebina definitely has the upper hand, in the end Fiona turns tables and defeats her. Hebina keeps her promise and lets everyone go. Seemingly now on friendly terms with Fiona she gives her a ring 'to remember their race' by. It's not an ordinary ring though, but actually a smoke bomb with which's help Hebina escapes.

In those scenes we get a first impression of Hebina's personality and skills. At first glance she appears like a mature evil beauty. Hebina's usually seen smiling condescendingly. She feels superior to the people she meets and lets them feel it. Especially towards children she likes to point out her superior maturity. Quite often she is seen making fun of people for their size or lack of life experience. And truly, Hebina doesn't first appear immature. She is unfazed by the insults of her victims and not easily provoked. A race against random strangers isn't good enough for her. She only agrees to it when accused of being a coward and hearing the kids competed against someone famous before. The names of good racers ping her, because Hebina is indeed a passionate racer herself. She loves her machine and even goes as far as treating it like others would treat their pets occasionally. By Hebina's own words there is only one thing she loves even more than treasures (and she already loves treasures almost more than life itself): seeing the disappointed faces of racers who lose to her. In this sense she appears almost sadistic.

Inside races and outside of them, Hebina likes to keep her evil lady act up. She has this signature, trained evil lady laughter to go with it, which she uses quite often. Additionally, she has a habit of licking lips threateningly. She's a tease, too, savoring her victories to the fullest. Mocking, arrogant, feminine - that's Hebina.

She's a good actor as well - effortlessly convincing Fiona that she was serious about making peace between them. Hebina doesn't necessarily keep her word. She only keeps it as far as necessary to not lose face - while she lets the prisoners go, she does not apologize. It's clear that she doesn't feel any guilt about lying, not even when it's her own convictions she lies about.

Another thing notable up to this point is that Hebina treats girls and boys differently, it seems. Being rather proud of being a woman herself, Hebina seems to pay more attention to Fiona than to the boys right from the start. It appears that Hebina would be the kind to declare woman's superiority to men if provoked to it.

After this encounter, Hebina goes back to stealing and treasure hunting. She's now being shown to not only take over ships, but also carefully look out for hidden treasures and basically anything valuable. This desire brings her to a far-off planet's dojo at which a very rare treasure is supposed to be located. She sends a threat to the dojo owner, a man named Master Hippopo, that she will steal the treasure and then observes. In her observation she finds, to her irritation, Team JET training at exactly that dojo. After having seen the threat (and suspecting the Master dead, which is actually not even Hebina's fault) , the JET members are now frantically trying to figure out the identity of the treasure. It turns out, Hebina doesn't know what exactly the treasure is either, so she decides she will just take all items that the JET members take into consideration. Her first attempt is to send Kohebiko, disguised with a Hippopo mask, in to make them hand over the treasures. In her eyes that is a perfect disguise, which goes to show just how naive she can sometimes be. While the mask is very well done, she forgets to make Kohebiko wear other clothes and hide her breasts, so she is found out. Hebina, however, remains convinced of her own geniality and doesn't see how the disguise plan could have failed.

Generally, we see Hebina more as a person with weaknesses here. While on first meeting she seems smooth, she actually isn't and the longer you know her the more it shows. She and her team have a good and functioning system for their heists, but their problems as well. 'Is it filming yet or not?' are Hebina's first words on the warning message - not even cut out before sending, suggesting that neither of them are overly good with technology.

Once again it is shown just more how much Hebina desires to possess anything valuable. Being rich, owning gold and jewelry and all else shiny, special and especially beautiful are her truest desires. They blind her, too, and sometimes she gets hasty. (Coming to get a treasure without knowing what the treasure is, I mean, really?)

She's so self-absorbed that she has issues reflecting on her own mistakes and refuses to see them even when failure is obvious before her eyes. Hebina's good, but really not what you'd call a master thief. At some point of frustration she just reveals herself and negotiates.

Once Team JET and the pirates are face to face, the real identity of the treasure is revealed. It is a rainbow race track that only appears when the suns of the planet are aligned in a special way. The pirates and Team JET decide to hold a race on just that track to decide who gets to keep it. Despite good tactical thinking, Hebina loses the race. She only takes a shard of the track away from that encounter, but as soon as it isn't on the planet anymore that shard vanishes as well. Hebina had been holding herself up quite well, but when that happens she gets angry and disappointed just as her teammates already are.

But here we can see that Hebina is optimistic. 'I might get knocked down, but I always find a reason to pick myself up', she says. While she can keep grudges forever, she makes a point out of not being depressed for long. She's too brilliant and beautiful to sink into despair, it would just be a waste. Or so she probably reasons.

Further, in the race we get to see that she actually gets touched by her team's support. This is important as it proves that Hebina isn't unable to build deep relations and trust people. Her teammates, who even affectionately call her 'sister', do mean a whole lot to her. Together they even do stupid formation poses for their attacks - which shows that Hebina doesn't have as much style as she'd like us believe. Actually though, she doesn't even see why poses that are like straight out of a children's cartoon might be laughable. Once again, she's too self-confident to self-reflect.

Another thing that's shown in this race is how much easier it is to provoke Hebina once you know her. While insults from strangers don't mean anything to her, she has a hard time staying calm when insulted by someone familiar. Especially people who she has clashed with before tick her off like nothing else. Her anger doesn't have the 'cool lady' note to it anymore, she just openly bitches at people and does get into trash talking.

After a second defeat by the same obscure Earth team, Hebina now decides it is time to better her skills in Scan2Go racing considerably. She heads to planet Gurao, which has the most famous racing academy in all of the universe. There she encounters -surprise, surprise- Team JET again, who she instructs to not see her as a pirate but as just another racer for the duration of their stay. In his situation she acts almost exaggeratedly positive and nice. She obviously doesn't want to be taken quite seriously, as she has been shown to be a much better liar before. Rather, she does want people to stay wary of her (gotta keep your reputation!), but she can do without open antagonizing all the time. Being feared is a good thing, having her entire Gurao stay be highly uncomfortable is not. She has the 'nice lady' act down as well for such purposes. Fabricating herself and how she is perceived is a talent of hers.

She then participates in the entrance exam race and manages to get into Team Gurao. Given that they are the only girls who got in, she gets roomed with Fiona. Having become real rivals by now, neither of them are particularly happy, but the strict and scary Coach Dile denies their pledges for changing rooms.

From this point on Hebina and Fiona make a point out of harassing each other even more than usually. While Hebina often is quite calm about being disliked, here her immature side really comes to show. Childish shoving each other around or sticking tongues out behind each other's back are completely common for these two.

At Gurao, Hebina mostly plays be the rules. While her training methods can not be described as 'fair and square', she doesn't outright cheat either. She just stays sneaky, which seems to be her character basis.

Finally we also get to see Hebina be afraid. She's scared of monsters, sudden noises and also the intimidating coach. She even does show her fear, she screams and runs away openly.

Generally, she doesn't keep up as much of a barrier between herself and people as she would between herself and prisoners. As opposed to always staying superior and above everyone, she now more identifies as a Team Gurao member and interacts with people on a normal basis. She doesn't make any effort to stay separated from the group.

It's interesting to see that while she will always pick a fight with people she dislikes, she is fully able to cooperate if it's of use. Her and Fiona are seen getting along just okay when it's about something as passing a test or getting rid of a monster dinosaur. In such situations, they are even able to sit next to each other without much disturbance.

Tough but peaceful training days get an interruption when a guy named Ryu appears and 'big-villain'-like knocks out a few good racers and yet gets accepted to the race academy anyway. Most of the existing Team Gurao is furious, but Hebina's actually quite fascinated by Ryu. Her morals aren't exactly shining and sparkling anyway and cold strong guys like him are her type. Hebina is drawn to strength. While she naturally claims that she wants people to work for her, she does get impressed as and intimidated as well. Being strong and distanced is a very good way to get Hebina to kind of look up to you and even make her include you in her dreamy fantasies. Being strong and hot-blooded however will just get you frowned at.

In the following, Coach Dile announces that this year the graduation race will not be individuals competing but teams of four. Now hell breaks lose as everyone tries to choose their teams carefully.

Hebina's first idea is to recruit Ryu into her team, but she doesn't really get the chance to ask. However, she gets begged by Jack, an Intergalactic Federal Police Officer, to be on his team. Given the creepy way he asks, Hebina spends her time running from him and in her despair actually goes and recruits Fiona.

Now, this is telling in several ways. First off, it's important to note that it is very, very possible to creep Hebina out. She's terrified of the way Jack approaches her and chases her. I'm being literal when I say she runs away from him, screaming and tears in her eyes. Along with that she shouts 'you're not my tyyyype', so she this also tells us dating is not out of her usual thought range.

Second, she holds some respect for her rivals and enemies, given how fast she turns all her aggression towards Fiona into an 'Let's team up. As two women, no, as friends!'. She wouldn't be doing this if Fiona hadn't gained her appreciation of sorts in their constant fighting.

In the duration of them being teammates, Fiona and Hebina get along surprisingly well. Hebina even goes as far as to fantasize about them both as rich and famous together, once they win the race.

(Additionally, we get to see that Hebina gets along well with Fiona's pet rodent. So apparently she likes and can deal with cute animals.)

Before they can complete their team, Fiona leaves Hebina again to go back to Team JET.

Hebina now reluctantly accepts Jack on her team, as he is better than nothing. Only mere minutes after, however, she overhears him talking about Hebina as a police case, so naturally she dumps him again.

After all of that madness she finally ends up on her desired team, together with Ryu.

In Hebina's own final contest race, she displays her true deceiving nature as a racer. She sets a trap for Jack, attempting to knock him out so he won't be able to race, and tries to emotionally manipulate Team JET. Namely, she hires an actress to play her imaginary terminally ill younger sister who wants nothing more than to see her win a race. With that act she even gets all of JET's boys, but not Fiona, who ends up competing.

Interestingly enough, in the end it is Jack who wins the race. Hebina is devastated but mostly directs her anger at Fiona as she is her Nr. 1 nemesis.

Despite this loss, Hebina is able to graduate from Gurao just fine.

From this incident we learn that Hebina doesn't just lose her morally corrupt nature despite being on a team with people for so long. Even if she likes people, it doesn't equal a guarantee that she will not deceive them. As shown, she's not always above physical violence either. While Hebina builds friendships and alliances just fine, it takes people a lot to get into a safe zone where they will not get used.

And even after we're done assessing her background, I can not stop empathizing how much of a drama queen Hebina is. Like whoa. Really, woman loves attention. A lot.  She will exaggerate a lot of things - her efforts, stories, movements. Her fashion sense is the same, too - who cares about matching, as long as it's expensive and flashy and gets her looked at.

She doesn't have much respect for other people's personal space bubbles either and often just declares things about other people without asking them beforehand.

Occasionally, she falls into uncontrollable fits of laughing when imagining something she really wants. Also, a thing she often can't hold back are tears. When she is incredibly disappointed or scared then she will burst into tears and whiiine a lot. It's not the cute or pity-evoking kind of crying.

She's not heartless. To those close to her, she will be surprisingly open about her actual dreams and wishes. While she spices it with a bit of bragging, she still gets very honest.

And surprisingly enough, she sometimes does feel real guilt and gets actually apologetic. That's as rare as shooting stars, but it does occur. Especially when someone has suffered for her plans and those plans didn't end up working out. Then it's just frustration on all sides and she recognizes her mistakes.

Hebina doesn't like failing at plans, because she firmly believes that only brains are important in life. Skill and strength can be at any level, as long as you've got the intelligence to work with it.

I'll leave you with a Hebina quote:

'Hi there, I'm Hebina, when it comes to beauty and brains, I'm the Nr 1 in the universe!'

Have you read up on how the game works?: Yep. Flaming Ferret. Missions, permanent jobs, stealing or just using someone's kindness to make them pay for you.

1st person sample:

[ High-pitched angered female scream anyone? Hebina's here to cater to your needs in that regard. She even has these tiny tears in her eyes as she rages. ]

This. Is. Absolutely. Ridiculous. My ship, my precious beautiful practical ship, has been destroyed and what they give me in compensation is a towel?!

[ Waving said towel around now. It's light green and patterned with heart-eyed snakes somehow. ]

... and don't even get me started on the fish in my ear. [ shuddering ] The humiliation!

What's the ridiculous paperwork for anyway? I've never been on a station this strict before, sheesh, how troublesome....

[ Oh wait. This thing is broadcasting. This is her first public broadcast and she should probably make a better impression. Hebina quickly clears her throat and then smiles briiightly. ]

So now, who could help a Lady out with finding her way around here?

3rd person sample:

"Talk of a disappointment..." Hebina muttered to herself as she looked through her new living place carefully. Not that there was much to look at. In a way, the tiny room reminded her of her dorm at Gurao, but back there she at least had to share it with only one other person. The experience had been terrible enough. This place was even more run-down and if she had a choice, she wouldn't spend even a single night in this apartment.

Dramatically, Hebina let herself fall down on the bed. She really wished Daijiko and Kohebiko were here to talk this through with her. If asked she would always be quick to assure she was fine on her own, but in truth Hebina was better off with her companions by her side. A support system that would always make sure others looked at Hebina the right way was a great thing.

The Vogouls... was that their name? Hebina wasn't sure, but right not she didn't care either. Well, those in charge of the Thor had said those two probably exploded along with her spaceship, but Hebina found that thought pretty ridiculous. If she had survived and been brought here, there was absolutely no reason for the other two to not have made it. Besides, she was a liar and deceiver herself, she'd be a fool to just believe in anything.

But even repeating it in her head over and over didn't ease a slight uneasiness in her stomach. "Uuugh, what a day. I deserve better after having made it through all of that training!"

It wouldn't help either to just stay here and drown in self-pity though. That was Plan B for the evening, if things continued to go wrong. Hebina took a deep breath and got back up again. When leaving the apartment she made extra-sure to slam the door. She was determined to find a better place to live within the next few hours. Anything to pick herself back up again.

Questions?: Nope!

Did you put your characters name and fandom in the subject: Yep!
